A sunny Mother's Day in The Woodford Valley at The Artisan's in Spring Fair

We had the Artisan's in the Spring Fair, our third fair and had a very sociable time with some returning visitors. The cold start did not deter early visitors with the bright spring sun soon lighting the valley. This fair we were joined by two new stall holders, Elaine with painted furniture and lovely objects for interiors and Tanya with button inspired brooches and rabbits and Imogen's lino cut greetings cards. Here are a selection of photographs from the Fair:

Camelia with vintage linens, handmade and a pretty collection of objects

John Gustard showing his portrait skills (one to be shown later), lovely cards from paintings and talking about his art classes around the Salisbury area

Anne-Marie of Sky Blue showing her creative knitting and sewing skills and vintage accessories

Elaine with hand -painted furniture and ceramics

Jane from Kiss The Book with beautifully co-ordinated items and books

Caroline's lovely jewels with semi precious stones

Unfortunately I don't have any photographs I took of Tanya's stall and the cakes but will try to find one and include later. I have a brooch which I bought and will photograph and include later.

I was delighted with my finds and something very special to me which can be seen on Camelia's blog later.

Most importantly it was lovely to meet so many lovely people and we all have our stories. One delightful lady who bought a pretty initialled handkerchief, was educated in a former Suffragette founded school in Edinburgh and told me about the laundering and starching of the school uniforms and how the girls were educated in laundering. Another lady who bought a tablecloth talked about the pride she took in presenting linen at its best and removing stains, I can identify with this. I could go on, we have so much to learn from others.
Perhaps for me, the most memorable moment was when a lovely lady arrived with her elderly mother whose memory was fading. She was very caring and compassionate towards her mother who was very spirited. My husband commented that he was sure she could tell many a story.
I hope everyone had a Happy Mother's day.

A rest now and a few more sleeps to the Artisans fair in September. Have a good spring and summer from at the Artisans.

Only nine more sleeps before The Artisans in the Spring Fair

Spring is upon us if today has anything to go by. A very warm day with a drying wind, a promise of the days to come. We are all busy getting ready for the fair (a few of us having the odd crisis whilst others are up together). Jane where are you............. I am the former! Cards and emails to send, cards & pressies to buy, parties to organise, oh, and then work!
However, weekends are bliss; a time to catch up with life..... & a few jobs that need to be done
Have a lovely week.

A Successful Artisan at Christmas Fair

We had a lovely Artisan at Christmas Fair on Sunday. The day started earlier for some than others....... baking delicious cakes & soup for Sue & John, Sophie of Fading Grace travelled from Dorset in the Fog whilst I only had to make it over the hill & arrived later than planned!
The fog eventually lifted and the sun emerged for half an hour at the latter end of the afternoon. The room buzzed.Visitors were not deterred  by the glum weather & we were all kept busy meeting some lovely folk.
John Gustard with his lovely collection of art http://www.johngustard.com/ We are hoping he will be able to run some more workshops with The Artisans in the summer months.

Camelia now has few Christmas decorations left. They are quicker to sell than to source.
Sky Blue... Anne-Marie's knitting is very creative, her vintage items are a delight too. She will be at the Craft Fair at Antrobus Fair, Amesbury on Saturday 26th November.

Jane the English Booklady with her lovely books & kitchenalia etc. I was very tempted with her Culpepper prints but have little wall space left to display them. Her blog is a treat to visit.

Caroline enjoyed her first fair with her handmade jewels.

George Treblinski escaped my camera........... but was behind his with wonderful pictures of wildlife. I am biased because I adore his deer pictures. The images can be seen on his website http://www.imagesbytrebinski.co.uk/

Sue & John's cakes were wonderful & the honey yummy on my porridge this morning.
The next Artisans in the Spring Fair will be on Sunday 18th March 2012 at Middle Woodford village hall & lots of workshops are being planned. We wish you an enjoyable Christmas & winter months in front of a warm fire, candles flickering with family & friends.
